36 students graduate after memorising entire Quran at Isar Primary School

Thirty-six students from Isar Primary School in Nsaggu Village, Wakiso Muslim District, have graduated after memorising the entire Holy Quran, according to Nile Post. The ceremony was described as the school’s first graduation of this kind and highlighted its role in combining religious instruction with general education.

The event was presided over by Uganda’s 2nd Deputy Mufti, Sheikh Hafiz Muhammad Harunah Bukenya, who attended on behalf of Mufti Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje. He praised the school’s backers for helping establish what he called a modern learning environment, and encouraged the graduates to apply Quranic teachings in their daily conduct, not just in recitation.

Sheikh Bukenya also thanked parents for trusting the school with their children and urged the graduates to remain humble, disciplined and useful to their communities. He said religious learning carries responsibility and should be reflected in behavior and service to others. In his remarks, he also acknowledged Care International and other Türkiye-based charitable organisations working with the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, saying their support has extended beyond education into community development projects such as boreholes, mosques and Qurban programmes.

The graduation underscores continuing efforts in Uganda to pair Islamic education with broader social support, particularly through partnerships between faith institutions and charitable groups.
