20th Anniversary iPhone Coming Next Year With These 10 Features - MacRumors

What the report says
MacRumors reports that Apple’s 20th anniversary iPhone is expected in fall 2027 and could bring the biggest visual overhaul since the iPhone X. The original iPhone was announced in January 2007 and released on June 29 that year, but the outlet notes Apple is still expected to follow its usual fall launch pattern for high-end models. Rumors have referred to the device as either “iPhone 20” or “iPhone XX,” with Apple potentially avoiding the iPhone 19 name as it skipped iPhone 9 in 2017.
According to the MacRumors roundup, the anniversary models are rumored to use a curved all-glass body with an edge-to-edge display, very slim bezels, and a Samsung-made display stack designed to improve brightness and efficiency. Apple is also said to be exploring under-display Face ID, though display analyst Ross Young reportedly doubts the technology will be fully ready by 2027. The lineup is expected to include two sizes similar to Pro and Pro Max models, around 6.3 and 6.9 inches.
Other reported upgrades include an Apple-designed stacked camera sensor, solid-state haptic buttons, a second-generation 2-nanometer A21 chip, possible high-bandwidth memory for improved on-device AI, an Apple modem for U.S. high-end models, and pure silicon battery technology. MacRumors also cites less certain claims about reverse wireless charging, under-display audio, and a new Ceramic Shield.
The outlet cautions that the product remains more than a year away and could change before release. If accurate, the redesign would be significant because anniversary iPhones have previously set Apple’s design direction for subsequent generations.
